GREATER
AVENUES COMMUNITY COUNCIL Minutes
September 6, 2000 ~ Page 3
OLYMPICS
- John Sittner: There was a list of ideas that we are
considering in the monthly Newsletter. Circle that those that
are of interest to you. I will collect them from you, and we
will decide which ones to implement. We have had a lot of enthusiasm.
We are going to have a Chair for each item. We will have the
plans done by July, and we will take them to the City to begin
sign-ups then. Please call me.
PACE
CAR: Robynne Kirkpatrick: I am involved with the Traffic
Committee. We had a lot of people sign up for the PACE Car program
at the Street Fair. That was very heart-warming. I have the
information with me: It involves taking a pledge to obey the
speed limit. The City has provided some different things to
place on your car, license plate frames. I would like you to
sign up. I will be in the back, and I will stay after for a
few minutes for people to sign up after. There will be a Traffic
Calming workshop on 13th (4:00-8) and 14th (9:00-3) and is an
all day event, at Horizonte School. You need to sign up if you
want to go and represent your street. There is no cost. Call
Craig Timothy at Traffic Claming 535-6579 and give them your
name. Please let me know if you want to go. It is an advantage
to drive the speed. If you want to check out the Celebrate Community
signs, please call me at 575-6596. If your entire block will
put up all the signs, you can check them out. We will put them
in the yards.
STREET
FAIR: We are selling the leftover tee shirts. We have
to be out of the Library at 9:00 so if you want to go back and
buy a shirt, just feel free to sneak back and buy one.
Mary
McDonald: Planning Commission: I want to give you an
overview of a City Master Plan done for the Avenues in 1997.
It needs to be updated. It talks about foothills, parks, health
services, and transportation. If you want to meet and look at
the current master plan and see what has been done, contact
Tom Rogan at teefare@aros.net
355-0461 and arrange with him to get together. Jackie, who spoke
about the utilities, she is our Rep on the Planning Staff to
represent the Avenues. Tom mentioned that the Capitol Hill just
finalized their Master Plan and approved it. When we look at
projects that impact us, particularly traffic plans, we need
to look back and see how it relates to the Master Plan. If you
want a Zoning Plan map, you can get them at the City County
Plan. You can't get them off the Internet.
