Announcements: Design Fest - There is an opportunity to contribute in the design of a playground at Liberty Park. Come present your ideas June 9 10:00 - 3:00 at Liberty Park. We will pass around an info sheet.
The first Wednesday of the month in July is July 4th. Should we change that date? Suggestions: Lets have it July 11th a week later? The Board will decide and let you know.
OLYMPICS - Peter Carroon: We sent out a press release to several news agencies last week. We will give you a copy of it so you will know what we are doing. We are also sending around a sign up sheet if you can help us with any of the things we are doing.
MEMORY GROVE CLEAN-UP: JUNE 16TH at 7:00 - 12:00. Please come and help. There will be a booth at the mouth of the park for assignments. There will be a light lunch served.
POLICE REPORT - Kim Guess: We are
passing
around the stats and a map. You can see how you rank. The
Avenues have
a great many car strips and car thefts. Because a lot of people
park in
the street, we have to make sure we don't leave things in the
cars that
entice thieves to steal. The thieves are looking for CD's or
stereos.
If you have an alarm system, it helps. Also, park under lights
if possible.
Always keep your doors locked. A lot of time people come by just
to do
window bashing. COMMENT: A neighbor
was on
her deck and saw a car being robbed. She called down to them,
and they
refused to leave. She called 911 and there were no police
available to
come. So they just stripped the car and didn't pay any attention
to her.
RESPONSE: Sometimes summer nights
get really
busy, and if there is no one available, there is nothing we
could do.
Be sure that you leave your windows locked. Keep valuables in a
safe.
Burglary: A gentleman picked up a
hitchhiker
downtown, and gave him a ride to the Avenues. Another form of
robbery
takes place when crooks pretend to be a phone repairman and ask
you to
call a series of numbers, and they can get access to your phone.
Another
woman said a man called her and told her that it was a robbery,
and if
she Another Avenues scam: People come to the door in the middle
of the
night (2:00 a.m.) and name a mutual friend who they say is in
trouble,
and in need of money. They take money and disappear. Be aware of
any scams
like these.
LEGISLATORS: No report
